The tower, of course, has characterised the L\u00f3pez de Heredia site since its foundation, becoming the symbol that has spread throughout the world on bottle labels.<\/p><p>Don Rafael intended the tower to serve a double purpose. One was that the name of the firm should be visible from a great distance; but also to serve as an observatory from which to study the vineyards and the meteorological situation.
